You can upgrade from NVivo Server 11, NVivo Server 10 R2 and NVivo Server 10 SP1.
Before you upgrade, it is recommended that you:
Back-up any NVivo projects.
Back-up the NVivo Server computer.
In order to upgrade:
You need to be using Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later.
If you upgrading from NVivo Server 10 SP1, your installed version of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 must be running SQL Server 2008 SP2 or later.
If you are not logged into Windows with the ‘BUILTIN\Administrator’ account, you will need to:
Disable the ‘User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode’ security policy.
Restart the computer.
You must be logged into Windows as a user who is part of the Server/Domains Administrators group.
Your logged in Windows user credentials must be part of an NVivo Server Managers group.
Log on to the server using an account with administrator privileges.
Download the NVivo Server 11 R2 ISO file, and mount the disk image (the .iso file).
Open the root folder of the mounted drive, and then double-click the upgrade.bat file.
Follow the prompts in the installer. This process will be similar to a standard installation.
Note: You can also follow this procedure to do a re-install of NVivo Server if required.
